Family Dinners for Less Than $100 a Week

When I began writing The Organized Cook, my goal was to save as much time as possible in the kitchen.  As a busy mom of four,

one child with special needs, I needed to prepare dinner as efficiently as possible while creating healthy, delicious balanced meals for my family.

By creating a balanced menu each week using my special algorithm that reuses my time, ingredients and leftovers, what I found was that I was spending very little on my grocery bill.

After finishing The Organized Cook, I found that each of my Weekly Meal Plan menus will feed a family of four or five dinner for a week for about $100 a week- and most often less than $100 a week.  That’s less than what it costs to eat out just one night!

The Bureau of Labor Statistics indicate that families who eat dinner at home save 50% in dinner costs than families who mostly eat out.  Combine that savings with other techniques like menu planning through The Organized Cook and families can slash their food budget even more.

The Organized Cook is a monthly subscription that provides a Weekly Meal Plan including menu, grocery shopping list, easy-to-follow instructions and lots of time and money-saving tips.

Reincarnate The Leftover

It’s all about making something new and fabulous out of something you already have- especially when it comes to family dinners.

Nobody likes to eat leftovers, and so what we’re often left with is a lot of food to throw out at the end of the week.  In my book, The Organized Cook, I write about my cooking method that I like to call “reincarnating the leftover”.

Here is a perfect example of this time and money saving method when it comes to preparing healthy, delicious meals for your family: my Herb-Roasted Chicken leftovers from the other night are now cleverly disguised as Green Chicken Enchiladas.

The Grocery Store Drive-By Trap

The Grocery Store Drive-By Trap

Does it feel like you make last-minute trips to the grocery store for last minute dinner solutions because you didn’t plan ahead? Do you go to the grocery store several times a week or even daily? Did you know that daily trips to the grocery store increase our exposure to impulse buying by 60%! I was amazed at how many moms I’ve spoken with do their grocery shopping almost daily due to lack of planning.

Grocery Store Driveby Trap from The Organized Cook

Don’t fall into the grocery store drive by trap. There’s a better, simpler way.

Let The Organized Cook do the planning for you and grocery shop only once a week.  By using this system, you can feed a family of four to five dinner for less than $100 per week.  That’s less than you’ll spend on one dinner night out.  Now, add the savings you’ll see by reducing your exposure to impulse buying from shopping daily.  Not to mention the time you will save.

Last Minute Teacher/Co-Worker Gifts For Just A Few Bucks?….Believe!

Last Minute Gifts

If holiday gifts for your co-workers or teachers didn’t quite make it to your priority list, you may be looking for something quick and inexpensive without settling for the gift card.

After hunting for a frugal gift solution, I found this package of eight holiday scented reed diffusers from Bed, Bath & Beyond for $20… LOVE, PEACE, JOY, DREAM, HOPE, WISH, RELAX and BELIEVE.

By individually tying each one with ribbon with a gift bag (gift bags also conveniently sold in package of 8 for $2.99), I had the perfect Christmas thank-you gifts on hand.
